About us
Community Justice Advocates Inc. exists to empower individuals to confidently advocate for themselves in legal matters by providing education, support, and access to resources—bridging the gap between the community and the justice system.
Community Justice Advocates Inc. is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and civic purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The specific purpose of the corporation is to promote access to justice by empowering individuals and communities, particularly those who are underserved, to effectively advocate for themselves in legal and administrative matters. The organization provides legal education, advocacy support, and resource navigation to individuals representing themselves (pro se), including assistance with understanding court procedures, preparing legal documents, organizing case materials, and accessing community and legal resources.
The corporation may conduct workshops, clinics, and outreach programs designed to increase legal literacy, improve court readiness, and support individuals in navigating housing, family, civil, and administrative proceedings.
In furtherance of its mission, the organization may collaborate with licensed attorneys and legal professionals to provide consultations and referrals; however, the corporation itself does not provide legal representation or legal advice.
The corporation may also engage in youth education initiatives, community-based programming, and public awareness campaigns to foster self-advocacy, civic engagement, and understanding of legal rights and responsibilities.
